RICHARD DEARDOFF

Born in Queens, New York City in 1949, Richard Deardoff is a Renowned Historian here in Virginia. Richard is a man of many hats, dedicating 4 years to the U.S. Coast Guard, teaching in Fauquier County, Virginia for 40 years, and volunteering at many local historical sites. 

Richard has been a volunteer at the Brandy Station Foundation since 2006, and voted Best Teach in Fauquier County both 2008 and 2009. In 2011, Richard won Sons of the American Revolution Teacher of the Year as well as the Civil War Trust Teacher of the Year. In 2017, he won the Mosby Heritage Area Teacher of the Year. Most recently, he won the Fauquier Historical Society Teacher of the Year in 2019. 

Richard is currently a member of Spirit Guides Paranormal Team and spends much of his time volunteering to teach others the history and historical significance of Brandy Station and the Civil War battles that occurred here and nearby.
